How long have you been surfing?

I bought my first board when I was 14, 19 years ago.

How long did it take you to stand, and how long before you caught your first big wave? How big was it?

It took about three months, my friends and I went on the weekends, one of them still wasn’t getting up a year later.  My first big wave? Must have been when I entered the waveathon at Christmas in 1990, they were 2 metres in Sardi, it was nuts, none of my friends entered, I was the only one who dropped, I got knocked around…

Do you have any special way of preparing for big waves?

Overall, mental preparation, I also like to be I shape.

Quiver, size of the board, and for what size wave?

9.0 for everything up to 4 metres. 5.0 for one metre is a bit of fun with a fish board. 6.3 for 1 or 1.5 metres. 6.6 for 1.5 to 2.5. 6.9 for up to 3.0 metres. 7.6 for 3.5 metres. 7.8 for 3.5. 8.4 for 4 metres. 9.0 for 4 or 5 metres. 10.0 for 5 or 6 metres.

Any frights?  How and where?  Size?

The other day I almost got hit by a car, it was big.
